Photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer between carbazole and bis(trichloromethyl)-s-triazine generating radicals

Article Abstract:

An intramolecular electron transfer and photosensitivity in dye/initiator systems, in which an electron donating light-absorbing unit (carbazole) is tethered by methylene bonds to an electron-deficient initiator bis(trichloromethyl)-s-triazine, was investigated. The compounds tethered by a longer methylene chain showed a higher photosensitivity than that tethered by a shorter methylene chain, despite the efficient fluorescence quenching in the latter compounds.

Photoinduced electron transfer in an oligodeoxynucleotide duplex: observation of the electron-transfer intermediate

Article Abstract:

Kinetics of a photoinduced electron-transfer reaction between phenothiazine (PTZ) and Ru(bpy)2(4-m-4'-pa-bpy)2+ covalently bound to a DNA duplex by transient adsorption spectroscopy is investigated. The rate of the back electron-transfer reaction is determined by monitoring the decay of the electron-transfer intermediate by transient adsorption spectroscopy.

Photocontrolled electron transfer reaction between a new Dyad, Tetrathiafulvalene-photochromic spiropyran, and ferric ion

Article Abstract:

The synthesis and spectral and electrochemical studies of a new dyad 1 containing an electroactive unit (tetrathiafulvalene, TTF) and a photochromic unit (spiropyran, SP) are presented. The result shows the possibility to design new electron donor-acceptor supramolecules containing the spiropyran unit to regulate the electron-transfer reaction by light.
