Physicochemical properties and solubility of alkyl-(2-hydroxyehtyl)-dimethylammonium bromide

Article Abstract:

A rapid and easy method for the synthesis of alkyl-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimenthylammonium bromides is presented. These high melting compounds are likely to be used as the precursors of new quaternary ionic liquids (ILs) or the phase-transfer (PT) catalyst, additives to new processes for large-scale electroplating, or substances that enhance the lubricate properties of the motor oils, or anticorrosive additives.

Catalytic functions of Mo/Ni/MgO in the synthesis of thin carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The functions and structures of Mo/Ni/MgO catalysts in the synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Raman spectroscopy. XRD analyses shows that Mo and Ni form a Mo-Ni alloy before CNT synthesis, while the Mo-Ni alloy phase is separated into Mo carbide and Ni.

Direct evidence of oxidized gold on supported gold catalysts

Article Abstract:

The time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (TOF-SIMS) is applied to investigate the nature of gold in Au/gamma-Al2O3 and Au/TiO2 catalysts prepared by the deposition-precipitation method. The results indicate direct evidence for oxidized gold on supported gold catalysts.
