Quantum state-resolved energy transfer dynamics at gas-liquid interfaces: IR laser studies of CO2 scattering from perfluorinated liquids

Article Abstract:

An apparatus for detailed study of quantum state-resolved energy transfer dynamics at the gas-liquid interface is described. The approach relies on supersonic jet-cooled molecular beams impinging on a continuously renewable liquid surface in a vacuum and exploits sub-Doppler high-resolution laser absorption methods to probe rotational, vibrational, and translational distributions in the scattered flux.

Some properties of 'Madrid' liquids

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine whether a density independent pair potential that supports a stratified liquid-vapor interface also supports liquid and solid phases with realistic structures and properties. The result obtained is that a 'Madrid' potential generates a solid that supports a premelting stage in the melting transition.

Absolute free-energy calculations of liquids using a harmonic reference state

Article Abstract:

Absolute free-energy calculations of liquids using a harmonic reference state are described. An expansion of the confinement method was applied to liquids and to explicitly solvated protein or nucleic acid simulations.
