Reactivity of fluorinated Si(100) with F2

Article Abstract:

The dissociative chemisorption of F2 on the Si(100)(2 x 1) surface saturated with 1 monolayer (ML) of fluorine is investigated as a function of the incident F2 translational energy. The relatively small effect of translational energy implies a late barrier in the potential energy surface for the interaction of F2 with Si-Si bonds.

Theoretical analysis of fluorine addition to single-walled carbon nanotubes: Functionalization routes and addition patterns

Article Abstract:

Theoretical investigation on the chemical addition patterns governing the fluorination of single wall carbon nanotubes is presented. Ab initio analysis of the fluorination of small nanotubes concluded that fluorine addition along the nanotube axis direction is favored by a mechanism of carbon framework distortion.

Fabrication and self-assembly of hydrophobic gold nanorods

Article Abstract:

A new method to fabricate the hydrophobation of gold nanorods which would help to prepare a chemically stable and thin organosilane shell by using mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) as a linker and octadecyltrimethoxysilane (ODS) as the hydrophobation agent is presented.
