Regulation of neurite outgrowth by intermittent irradiation of visible light

Article Abstract:

The effect of neurite outgrowth of PC12 cells on collagen-coated glass plates under intermittent light irradiation at 525 nm and 0.4 mW/cm(super 2) of intensity is investigated. The neurite outgrowth ratio is assumed to be dependent on the light intensity, the total time of light irradiation in the intermittent light irradiation, and the interval of light irradiation in the intermittent light irradiation.

Optimal length and signal amplification in weakly activated signal transduction cascades

Article Abstract:

Weakly activated signaling cascades can be modeled as linear systems. Natural measures for the propagation of the input signal down the cascade and the characterization of the final outcome is provided by the input-to-output function and the internal gain of a linear system.

Cryogenic photolysis of activated bleomycin to ferric bleomycin

Article Abstract:

Activated bleomycin (ABLM) is a drug-Fe(III)-hydroperoxide complex kinetically competent in DNA attack. Light is demonstrated to trigger ABLM attack on DNA in liquid at -30 degree Celsius, so ABLM is irradiated at 77 K to stabilize possible intermediates.
