Self-aggregation of lipophilic porphyrins in reverse micelles of aerosols OT

Article Abstract:

The aggregation process of meso-tetra(4-aminosulfonylphenyl)porphyrin (PC(sub o)), of butyl and dodecyl derivatives (PC(sub 4) and PC(sub 12), respectively) in the presence of aerosol-OT (AOT) reversed micelles is examined with different values of omega(sub o)=[water]/[AOT]. Analysis from resonance light scattering (RLS) technique, steady-state extinction (E) and emission (EM) indicated that the presence of alkyl substitution and water, strongly determines the solublization and aggregation kinetics in the micelles and the spectroscopic features of the system.

Density functional theory for charge transfer: The nature of the n-bands of porphyrins and chlorophylls revealed through CAM-B3LYP, CASPT2, and SAC-CI calculations

Article Abstract:

The nature of the n-bands of porphyrins and chlorophylls is revealed through Coulomb-attenuated hybrid exchange-correlation functional, complete-active-space plus second order Moller-Plesset perturbation theory (CASPT2, perturbative), and symmetry-adapted cluster configuration interaction (SAC-CI, coupled-cluster) calculations. The results suggest that many areas of nanotechnology and biotechnology may be realistically treated by cost-effective density-functional-based computational methods.

UV-vis spectrophotometric titrations and vibrational spectroscopic characterization of neso-(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrins

Article Abstract:

Meso-(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrins are used for the photosensitizers, in the model system of photosynthesis and for oxygen-reduction catalysis. The usage of this compound for the photodynamic therapy of cancer is discussed.
