Size-selective synthesis and stabilization of gold organosol in C(sub n)TAC: Enhanced molecular fluorescence from gold-bound fluorophores

Article Abstract:

Gold nanoparticles of variable sizes are synthesized in toluene employing two-phase extraction of AuCl(sub 4)- followed by its reduction with sodium borohydride in the presence of a series of cationic surfactants of a homologous series having the general formula C(sub n)TAC. The influence of the counterion of the phase transfer reagent and stabilizing ligand on the photochemical stability of the gold colloids is investigated.

Size regime dependent catalysis by gold nanoparticles for the reduction of Eosin

Article Abstract:

The gold particle catalyzed eosin reduction is investigated in the presence of NaBH4. It is shown that the catalytic activity of the gold nanoparticles is different for different size regimes and the kinetics of the catalytic rate has a bearing with the particle size.

Laser-induced shape transformation of gold nanoparticles below the melting point: The effect of surface melting

Article Abstract:

Certain kinds of applications, such as biolabeling catalysts, nonlinear optical devices, optical recording media, and halographic gratings were examined. The results indicate that nanosized gold particles have a good future as a new material.
