Steady state and time-resolved fluorescence investigation of the specific binding of two chlorin derivatives with human serum albumin

Article Abstract:

The specific binding of two model drugs for photodynamic therapy, namely chlorin [p.sub.6] and purpurin 18 in the vicinity of Sudlow's Site I of HSA is examined by monitoring the intrinsic fluorescence of single tryptophanyl residue and by competitive binding with warfarin. Time-resolved fluorescence results of competitive binding with warfarin have confirmed that they bind to the warfarin binding site.

Structure of the ochratoxin A binding site within human serum albumin

Article Abstract:

Theoretical simulations and site-directed mutagenesis experiments examine the binding site of ochratoxin A (OTA) within domain of 2A of human serum albumin. R257 plays an important role in the binding of the isocoumarin ring of OTA by serving as a proton acceptor and stabilizing the binding through the creation of an ion pair with the phenoxide group on OTA.

Change of xi potential of biocompatible colloidal oxide particles upon adsorption of bovine serum albumin and lysozyme

Article Abstract:

The xi potentials and isoelectric points (IEPs) are measured for alumina, silica, titania, and zirconia and correlated with the protein amount adsorbed at pH 7.5. The results revealed that zirconia adsorbs the highest protein amount even under repulsive electrostatic conditions in the case of bovine serum albumin (BSA).
