GERMANY: BYK GULDEN, BAYER GASTROENTEROLOGY DEAL

Article Abstract:

In Germany, Konstanz-based Byk Gulden has acquired from Bayer AG the worldwide exclusive rights to the development and sales of a new active agent for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is believed that the agent called BY 377 might make monotherapy of helicobacter pylori possible. Byk Gulden is to start clinical tests in mid-2000. Bayer will continue to produce the agent.

GERMANY: MORE CARBONIC ACID FROM RUHRCHEMIE

Ruhrchemie, a unit of Celanese, has raised the production of carbonic acid by 30% to 36,000 tpy at the factory in Oberhausen. The investment amounted to DM 5.5mn.
