The influence of solution anion on the mechanism of transpassive dissolution of ferrous- and nickel-based alloys

Article Abstract:

An experimental data was conducted on the transpassive dissolution of a range of ferrous-and nickel-based alloys in1M H (sub 3) PO (sub 4) as compared with corresponding data in 1M H (sub 2) SO (sub 4) to gain a better insight in the transpassive state. The results concluded that the nature of the solution anion has a significant influence on the dissolution reaction of the main element (Fe and Ni).

A novel intersubunit communication mechanism in truncated hemoglobin from Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Article Abstract:

HbN is a homodimeric hemoglobin from Mycobacterium tuberculosis that belongs to the newly discovered truncated hemoglobin family is discussed. The new data reported here not only reveal a novel intersubunit communication mechanism but also provide the first experimental evidence for an intermediate ligation state that is critical for a ligand-linked allosteric structural transition.

A new understanding of demineralization: The dynamics of Brushite Dissolution

Article Abstract:

The new dissolution model of sparingly soluble electrolytes that challenges the traditional understanding of demineralization is presented. Results suggest that the true equilibrium solubility can be achieved by large crystallite size and long equilibrium times.
