Theoretical treatment of scan time dependent optical bands of single molecule embedded in polymer or glass

Article Abstract:

The relation between theoretical expression for the time dependent single molecule absorption coefficient and the absorption measured in experiments with scanning laser frequency is discussed. The analysis is carried out for a guest molecule whose optical band consists of two well-resolved and poorly resolved optical lines and time dependent absorption coefficient enables one to calculate temporal line broadening of single molecule and to compare it with measured line broadening in time scale of seconds.

Hidden transition in the "unfreezable water" region of the PVP-water system

Article Abstract:

The poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP)-water solutions of 60-80 wt percent PVP apparently do not freeze when cooled far below the expected freezing point. The large amount of rapidly appearing and disappearing sharp peaks in the small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) region was observed confirming their origin.

Free volume concept in application to folding kinectics of random heteropolymers

Article Abstract:

A new model of folding kinetics of random heteropolymers, which is based on the free volume concept is presented. This model, which reproduces the well-known saddlelike temperature dependence of folding time is compared to the random energy model.
