Thiol-derivatized AgI nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, and optical properties

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the synthesis and optical characteristics of thiol-passivated AgI nanoparticles by altering the molar ratio of iodide to 1-thioglycerol. The competitive reaction rates of the nanoparticles with silver ions was then adjusted. Experimental results indicated that the competitive reaction of iodide and 1-thioglycerol with silver ions supported the synthesis of I-VII nanoparticles of AgI with sizes between 7 to 15 nm.

Kinetics of two-dimensional phase transitions of sulfide and halide ions on Ag(111)

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze kinetics associated with the two-dimensional phase transitions of sulfide, iodide, bromide and chloride ions on Ag(111) at anionic concentrations. A gold wire was utilized as a counter electrode while an external saturated calomel electrode functioned a reference. Results indicated that the formation of condensed phases correlated with the diffusion-controlled random adsorption of the chemisorbed anions.

Nanosphere lithography: size-tunable silver nanoparticle and surface cluster arrays

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the synthesis of size-tunable silver nanoparticle arrays by nanosphere lithography and their structural characterization by atomic force microscopy. The nanosphere lithography masks were prepared by spin-coating polystyrene nanospheres. Results indicated that nanosphere lithography can fabricate nanoparticles that support only ca.4x10(super 4) atoms and in the size range of a surface-confined cluster.
