Time-dependent density-functional theory investigation in the fluorescence behaviour as a function of alkyl chain size for the 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)benzonitrile-like donor-acceptor systems 4-(N,N-diethylamnino)benzonitrile and 4-(N,N-diisopropylamino)benzonitrile

Article Abstract:

The dual fluorescence activity of 4-(N,N-diethylamnino)benzonitrile T(4DEAB-CN) and 4-(N,N-diisopropylamino)benzonitrile (4DIAB-CN) molecules are investigating using time-dependent density-functional theory (TDDFT). This study reinforces the validity of the twisting intramolecular charge-transfer (TICT) model as a possible mechanism that explains the dual fluorescence for the donor-acceptor systems.

Immobilization of biomolecules on electrodes modified by electrografted films

Article Abstract:

It is shown that electrografted polymethacrylonitrile films can be used for direct immobilization of proteins through spontaneous reaction between the nitrile groups from the film and the amino groups from the amino acids of the protein, in alcoholic basic medium. The final protein film is stable toward aqueous rinsing and can be used for protein-substrate recognition.

External electric field effects on absorption, fluorescence and phosphorescence spectra of 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile in a polymer film

Article Abstract:

Electric-field-induced changes in the absorption, fluorescence, and phosphorescence spectra of 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile doped in a polymer film are measured. The electric dipole moment and molecular polarizability in the locally excited and charge transfer singlet states as well as in the phosphorescent triplet state are evaluated.
