US: SLOWER GROWTH SEEN FOR POWDER COATINGS
Article Abstract:
A study by The Freedonia Group predicts the US' consumption of powder coatings to grow at an annual rate of 8% to 440mn lb worth US$ 1.3bn by the year 2003. In the past decade, sales were growing at a double-digit rate. However, demand for powder coatings is expected to grow faster than that for liquid coatings. Freedonia predicts growing demand for powder coatings especially in small specialist segments such as garden furniture and sports equipment. Demand for the coatings in the automotive industry is predicted to grow at an annual rate of 7.9%, in equipment manufacturing 7.3% and in the furniture industry 6.5%.
