Vanadium containing mesoporous silica of high photocatalytic activity and stability even in water

Article Abstract:

Vanadium containing mesoporous silica molecular sieve with highly dispersed and tetrahedrally coordinated V-oxide ([V.sup.v][O.sub.4]) species was prepared by a modified surfactant-templating method and its photocatalytic activity and stability was studied. The measurements reveal that the modified templating method creates [V.sup.v][O.sub.4] species confined within silica layer, while other methods create [V.sup.v][O.sub.4] species exposed on silica surface.

Bis-azamacrocyclic anthracene as a fluorescent chemosensor for cations in aqueous solution

Article Abstract:

A bis-azamacrocyclic anthracene, which has two a 12-membered cyclic tetramine connected through a 9,10-dimethylanthracene spacer, is synthesized as a new fluorescent chemosensor for detection of pH and metal cations in aqueous solution. The findings suggest potential utilities of bis-azamacrocyclic anthracene as a new type fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of cations in aqueous solution.

Visible light-induced partial oxidation of olefins on Cr-containing silica with molecular oxygen

Article Abstract:

Photocatalytic oxidation of olefins on Cr-containing silica with molecular oxygen by visible light irradiation is investigated. The findings suggest a potential use of Cr-SiO(sub 2) as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous photocatalyst for partial oxidation of olefins.
