alpha-Cyclodextrin functionalized CdS nanocrystals for fabrication of 2/3 D assemblies

Article Abstract:

Oleic-acid-capped CdS nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized and their surface properties were tailored by different types of cyclodextrins (CDs) in order to modify their chemistry, functionality, reactivity and surface charge, enhancing also their stability and dispersibility properties. Results reveal that alphaCDs are the best candidates to modify the surface properties of CdS NCs, being a type of molecules that are able to solubilize them in aqueous solution without affecting their size and size distribution.

Mechanism of quinol oxidation by ferricenium produced by light excitation in reaction centers of photosynthetic bacteria

Article Abstract:

The cyclic electron transfer through the isolated reaction center protein of photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides was analyzed for its kinetics and thermodynamics. The oxidation of quinol by ferricenium was found to depend on the ionic strengths of the latter compound.

Effect of cyclodextrins on the physiochemical properties of chlorophyll a in aqueous solution

Article Abstract:

The interactions between chlorophyll a and two beta-cyclodextrins that have the same cavity size but different substituents, were studied in aqueous solutions. The results indicate that all cyclodextrins solubilize the pigment mainly in monomeric form in water.
