C60-based electroactive organofullerenes

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the synthesis and characterization of (60)fullerene derivatives bearing electron donor or electron acceptor units covalently attached to the C60 core. Some of the most outstanding dyads were grouped according to the different synthetic approaches followed for their preparation. Results indicated that the presence of porphyrin units or other donor fragments covalently attached to the C60 core enhances solubility and serves as an antenna to capture light at appropriate wavelengths.

O-quinodimethanes: efficient intermediates in organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

Recent developments in the production of o-quinodimethanes (oQDMs) and new oQDM heteroanalogues are discussed. Particular attention is given to the significant rise in the use of oQDMs as intermediates in organic synthesis. Considerable effort has been devoted to the thermal generation of oQDMs, but recent significant developments have focused on the photochemical and the electrochemical generation processes.

Fullerene polymers: Synthesis and properties

Article Abstract:

The different synthetic strategies to prepare fullerene containing polymers either covalently or supramolecularly connected is reviewed. The different [C.sub.60]-based polymers are classified according to structural parameters into cross-linked, main-chain and side-chain polymers whose preparation involved a wide variety of synthetic strategies.
