Transition metal-catalyzed carbocyclizations in organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

Carbocyclization reaction for synthesizing organic compounds using transition metals such as Co, Fe, Mo, Ni, Pd, Rh, Ru, Ti, and Zr are discussed. Palladium-catalyzed Heck reactions involving hetero- and carboannulations of vinylic cyclopropanes and cyclobutanes produce benzodihydrofurans, benzodihydropyrrole, and dihydroindenes. The cobalt-catalyzed Pauson-Khand reactions have high product yield and stereoselectivity. Other palladium-mediated reactions including cycloadditions are discussed.

2-furyl phosphines as ligands for transition-metal-mediated organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

This review discusses phosphorous (III) ligands particularly phosphines that bear the 2-furyl group, the use of tri-2-furylphosphine (TFP) as a ligand for transition-metal-mediated synthesis, and the development of new TFP ligands. Research show that TFP-derived palladium catalysts are superior to traditional phosphine-based catalysts in the Stille cross-coupling reactions.

1,3-Aminoalcohols and their derivatives in asymmetric organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

The study demonstrates and explains the contribution of 1,3-aminoalcohols in the organic synthesis of asymmetric compounds as chiral ligands, as well as auxiliaries, as they can be also used as a resolving agent and a phase transfer catalyst in the reactions. The analysis reveals that such aminoalcohols are highly adaptable and can be used widely in several reactions.
