Metallothioneins: Zinc, Cadmium, Mercury, and copper thiolates and selenolates mimicking protein active site features - structural aspects and biological implications

Article Abstract:

Metalloproteins (MTs) define a superfamily of ubiquitous cysteine-rich low molecular weight proteins or polypeptides, which contain polynuclear metal-sulfur coordination sites formed by metal ions. The structural aspects and biological implications of some of the MTs are discussed.

Synthetic analogues relevant to the structure and function of zinc enzymes

Article Abstract:

The advances that are made in the study of synthetic analogues of zinc enzymes are presented. These investigations of the advances have laid the foundation of the bioinorganic chemistry of zinc that allows one to understand the mechanisms and action of zinc enzymes.

Quantitative structure-activity relationship studies on zinc-containing metalloproteinase inhibitors

The inhibitory properties of Zinc-containing metalloproteinase are analyzed. A comparative study with different classes of inhibitors like MMP and ACE families is presented.
