Phonon dispersion and defect energies for rubidium chloride, bromide, iodide, and sulphide

Article Abstract:

Calculations indicate that several transport mechanisms may be of significance for the rubidium halides. In the case of RbCl this is definitely the case. New crystal potentials have been developed for rubidium chloride, iodide, bromide, and sulfide by first calculating the pair interactions in the electron-gas approximation followed by refitting potential parameters to known crystal properties. Strontium chloride was also studied. Potentials were further tested by calucation of phonon dispersion in the materials. Energies of formation and migration of point defects were calculated.
