New heterocycles from thienopyridocinnolines

Article Abstract:

The reaction of 3-cyano-4-(p-tolyl)pyrido[3,2-c]cinnolin-2(1H)thione with alpha-halo ketones, esters, or amides produces S-alkylated products that, following intramolecular ring closure reactions, result in a number of thienopyridocinnolines. Cinnoline derivates have antibacterial, antifungal, and other biologically active qualities.
