Synthesis of heterocycles from alkyl 3-(dimethylamino)propenoates and related enaminones

Article Abstract:

An extensive study on the chemistry of various 2-substituted alkyl 3-(dimenthylamino) propenoates, which have shown versatile synthetic potential, especially in heterocyclic synthesis, is presented. The study shows how a series of 2-substituted alkyl 3-(dimenthylamino)propenoates and related enanminones as masked alpha-formyl-alpha-substituted acid derivatives and ketones, including chiral analogues, has been developed into a group of versatile reagents for the preparation of 2,3-disubstituted propenoates and numerous monocyclic and fused heterocyclic systems with an alpha-amino acid or other related structural element incorporated into the newly formed heterocyclic system.

Synthesis of heterocycles via group VI Fischer carbene complexes

Article Abstract:

The potential of Fischer-type carbene complexes for accessing different types of heterocycles are reviewed for the attention of people involved in organic synthesis mediated or catalyzed by organometallic reagents. The review shows that, metal carbene complexes of group 6 are reactive toward a wide array of heteroatom-containing substrates, allowing access to a great variety of mono- and polyheterocyclic compounds.

Chiral heterocycles by iminium ion cyclization

Article Abstract:

The importance of the iminium ion cyclization the enantioselective synthesis of various heterocycles is reviewed. The study shows that this transformation enables the creation of a large variety of structures, from three to more than eight-membered rings, and both endo- and exo-mode cyclizations with a good control of regio- and stereoselectivity.
