Synthesis of heterocycles via palladium-catalyzed oxidative addition

Article Abstract:

A wide range of palladium-catalyzed processes involving oxidation addition/reductive elimination chemistry, which were developed to prepare heterocycles with the emphasis on fundamental processes used to generate the ring systems themselves, is reviewed. This chemistry generally involves initial oxidative addition of an organic halide or triflate to the palladium(0) complex, which readily undergoes intramolecular nucleophilic attack by a neighboring nucleophile, or addition to an alkene, alkyne, or carbon monoxide.

Samarium(II)-Iodide-mediated cyclizations in natural product synthesis

Article Abstract:

The application of the reagent, Samarium(II) iodide (SmI2) mediated cyclization reactions in the synthesis of natural products is verified. The mild and selective nature of SmI2 has led to its widespread application in target synthesis, and an array of cyclization protocols are employed successfully to assemble many different ring systems.

Cyclizations of N-acyliminium ions

Article Abstract:

Cyclizations of N-acyliminium type, encompassing groups like alkanoyl, aroyl, carbalkoxy, with limited coverage of sulfonyl groups, are discussed. Intramolecular reactions of N-acryliminium ions resulting in the formation of new carbon, carbon bonds, are reviewed.
