Photochemical strategies for the construction of polycyclic molecules

Article Abstract:

Photochemical studies on the synthesis of polycyclic and heterocyclic molecules, arene-alkene photocycloadditions, di-pi-methane-type rearrangements and /n + 2~ photocycloadditions are discussed. Selection of substrates and photoconversion conditions greatly affect selectivity and efficiency of the photochemical reaction. Ephemeral multistep formation sequences can also be achieved by clustering of polycyclic skeletons in major photochemical reactions.

Photoinitiators for free-radical-initiated photoimaging systems

Article Abstract:

Applications of photoinitators in free-radical initiated photoimaging systems are presented. Fragmentation, hydrogen abstraction, electron-transfer reactions and organometallic systems of photoinitiated reactions are also dicussed in detail. Researches on visible- and infrared-sensitive photoinitiated systems, such as dye/borate systems are being conducted to take advantage of new developents in computer-controlled infrared lasers.

Photocycloadditions: control by energy and electron transfer

Article Abstract:

The reactivation control and type of photocycloaddition pathway choice, /2 + 2~ cycloaddition, /3 + 2~ cycloadditions with three-membered rings and /4 + 2~ cycloadditions are discussed. The development in electron-transfer reactions stimulated the growing interest on photocycloaddition reactions. Difficulties in classic photocycloaddition are hurdled due to faster advancements in techniqes.
