The shuttle glow phenomenon

Article Abstract:

Near surfaces that face atmospheric wind when a spacecraft is in low earth orbit a bright orange glow can be seen. The glow was first seen on the space shuttle, but it is common to all spacecraft, with the intensity of glow dependent on temperature of the surface, atmospheric density, and angle between the velocity vector and the spacecraft surface. The glow comes from NO2, in an excited state, formed in surface-aided recombination of NO and O.

From batch to continuous manufacturing of microbiomedical devices

Article Abstract:

A hybrid methodology is proposed for the non-silicon micromanufacturing of biosensors, fluidic platforms, drug delivery systems, and microbiomedical devices at low costs. The review focuses on the technology development for developing such inexpensive disposable microbiomedical devices.

Applications of impulsive stimulated scattering in the earth and planetary sciences

Article Abstract:

Methods to analyze intermolecular interactions of crystals, fluids, and minerals are presented. Impulsive stimulated scattering technique has been applied to study the equilibrium and dynamic properties of substances at high densities, pressures, and temperatures.
