GoLive CyberStudio 2.0

Article Abstract:

Ease of use and sophisticated controls make GoLive Systems' $349 GoLive CyberStudio 2.0 for the Mac a fine Web publishing tool for professionals. Users can work within a text editor or view tags. CyberStudio supports pixel-level placement of QuickTime, Shockwave, Java, ActiveX, frame sets, color palettes and the latest HTML tags. CyberStudio is the only commercially available product that supports Apple's WebObjects, used in dynamic sites that can create custom pages. CyberStudio also supports AppleScript and HotSauce. Version 2.0 features enhanced site-management tools, but the product is still not configured for team authoring. A spell-check function works across an entire site without having to open pages individually.

Cheap but capable video editing

Article Abstract:

Desktop video editing is facilitated by two software packages, Avid Cinema and Pinnacle Systems' DC10 Plus. These products are both aimed at the general user, and cover the basics well enough to enable new or experienced users to create short videos or Web presentations. Avid's Cinema offers a four-stage interface comprised of Storyboard, Bring Video In, Edit Movie, and Finish Movie functions. The software is sold separately for $139 or combined with a video capture board for $329. Pinnacle Systems' $229 Studio DC10 Plus includes the video capture board in the purchase price. It offers more features than Cinema via its Capture function, timeline picons, and high quality tilting.
