CompTIA, ITTA team to lobby for tax break

Article Abstract:

The Computing Technology Assn and the Information Technology Assn have teamed up to lobby Congress to pass the information technology training tax credit legislation. The bill, which was reintroduced in Feb 1999, aims to provide businesses with tax credits of up to $6,000 per employee or 20% a year to offset IT training expenses. The IT tax credit bill was initially introduced as an amendment to the 198 tax bill, which ultimately failed to pass.

OG&E Electric Services is using SAP's Customer Care System to provide value-added services in a deregulated, competitive marketplace. To make sure that customer care would not be severely handicapped during training, the company has shut down one of its two call centers so that all call center employees in one center would be free for training.
