CompUSA tuning up systems to facilitate corporate support push

Article Abstract:

Computer retail giant CompUSA Inc has taken steps to further tailor its service management software system and expand its links with the vendor of this system, Atlanta, GA-based Foresight Software. This is because CompUSA desires to furnish improved support services to an expanding base of corporate clients. The company plans enhancements to Foresight's Service Management System, which automates CompUSA's service call process. In doing so, it will expand the scope of its services program to include both retail customers and corporate clients, systems integration and depot repairs.

Professional services tipping the scales

Article Abstract:

CAI of Islandia, NY, offered $9 billion to El Segundo, CA-based CSC, which rejected the offer for being too low. The rejection notwithstanding, CAI's dogged courtship of CSC demonstrates the need to provide services to help customers integrate and utilize increasingly sophisticated support software.

IT talent search is becoming even more of a challenge

Article Abstract:

Corporations are still finding it difficult in 1997 to find skilled information technology (IT) professionals. According to a survey by Information Technology Association of America in Arlington, VA, there are nearly 200,000 IT job vacancies in large and mid-sized companies in the US. Two-thirds of the IT industry firms that were surveyed said US educational institutions are not producing sufficiently skilled graduates.
