Firm sorts out systems management

Article Abstract:

Dow Corning Corp, faced with no single system management tool that can meet all of its IT requirements, has instead decided to link various support and management tools. Thus, the company's IT department uses Command/Post, a system management package from Boole & Baggage Inc, to link and manage a variety of tools that include Patrol, a SAP management software from BMC Software, and ServiceCenter, a trouble ticket management tool from Peregrine Systems. The support framework is currently being implemented at the company's headquarters in Midland, MI.

Mirage Resorts: how may we server you?

Article Abstract:

Mirage Resorts Inc's Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, NV, has turned to Fort Lauderdale, FL-based Citrix Systems and San Jose, CA-based Wyse Technology to establish a server-based thin-client IT infrastructure. The Citrix and thin client environment is ideal for the plush hotel by allowing remote fixes of client machines. The slimmer desktops can be easily hidden from the view of guests, while remote fixes minimize the need to have technicians working on location.
