It is not uncommon for vendors, particularly in the computer industry, to make new products available for purchase before the products are genuinely ready for the marketplace. This can easily lead to strained relations between buyer and seller. The corporate users may be anxious to automate with reliable equipment that can be serviced and otherwise supported. The vendor, however, may be looking for a proving ground.
