Article Abstract:

A company in the process of selecting a computer system costing over $20,000 should consider holding a meeting with all the vendors to whom the company has made a request for quotation. The company's management and consultant, if one has been hired, will have laid out a description of the work to be done, the present operation, and other specifications. The purpose of the meeting is to make sure all vendors have the same interpretation of the project and to give them the opportunity to ask questions. A tour of the facility will give vendors a better picture of the layout, upkeep, administrative tone, staff, and any potential problems.

Article Abstract:

All computer systems having telecommunications capabilities should be protected with a security software program. Such programs can be easily implemented and reasonably priced. Security software can monitor abortive log-in attempts, control access with passwords, and notify the operator of continued attempts to break into the system.
