Strong domestic and foreign sales have accounted for Japanese production increases of plain paper copiers of 26.8 percent. The value of shipments has been rising twenty percent since 1983. Growth has been stimulated by the development of one-color copiers, enlargement and reduction capabilities, zoom, better image quality and more automated functions. Personal copiers also increased sales. Exports were up 25.5 percent for the first six months of 1984. A table describing the quantity and value of production is shown.

Europe's robust copier sales pave way for digital's gradual entry

Article Abstract:

Sales of digital copiers in Europe are anticipated to increase gradually in the coming years as sales of copiers in the region have increased steadily since 1995. By 2002, sales of digital copiers are expected to surpass those of analog copiers. The steady growths of digital copiers in Europe were attributed to strong demand in Russia and Eastern Europe and strong sales of low-end ink-jet color copiers in the small and home office markets.
