Lucent goes global with NetCare

Article Abstract:

Lucent Technologies Inc has signed an agreement with data networks provider Equant that will extend the reach of the former's NetCare Data Services. Lucent offers design, integration, maintenance and management of data networks. The agreement would allow the NetCare Services to be offered in 55 countries through Equant's technical representatives. Lucent is also working with Internet service provider Lynxus in creating 10 service hubs across the US. NetCare has allowed Lynxus to start the unmanned hubs that would be remotely managed in its headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

IBM Global Services takes on CompUSA's SAP initiative

Article Abstract:

Retail chain CompUSA Inc. has signed IBM Global Services Corp to a seven-year, multimillion dollar contract to manage its migration from current, hybrid IT legacy systems to SAP's ERP suite. IBM Global will manage the PC retailer's systems while implementing R/3 and will then operate the new system. IBM Global will hire 100 workers from CompUSA, and will have another 30-40 IT professionals involved with the project.

Intel Corp. has launched DeskTop Companion, a product that allows computer resellers, networking professionals and end users to dowload free Intel training. The product enables mobile workforces to take the training offline, particularly those who were in the area where Internet connection is a problem. About 20 courses are now available for download.
