Mustek: data protection, software safeguards ensure POS reliability: PST-1000

Article Abstract:

Mustek Corp. offers the PST-1000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals series that uses a built-in uninterruptible power supply to safeguard data. The series, which operates under the preloaded DOS program, uses 486DX CPU running at 100MHz and features 4MB DRAMs expandable to 32MB. Aside from offering measures to address the year 2000 problem that imperil older systems, the POS terminals are available with 2MB solid-state devices with hard drive emulation. Other features include a power port for a printer, a 5-pin connector for an AT keyboard, one kick-out port for the cash drawer, parallel and serial ports.

Mustek Corp. offers the PST-6000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals series that provides measures to avoid data confusion associated with the year 2000 problem and protection to prevent accidental power shutdowns. The series is composed of three models, the PST-6060, the PST-6030 and the PST6060. The PST-6000 series offers such features as Universal Serial Bus ports, which allow link with up to 256 serial devices, and the Socket 7 technology, which provides customers a choice of advanced-performance CPUs.
