The new support offerings are part of the software giant's continuing effort to get closer to its customers. The new packages consist of Alliance for Enterprise Systems and Alliance for High Availability; Professional for developers, OEMs, Microsoft Certified Solution Providers (MCSPs), resellers and consultants; Premier for enterprise systems, MCSPs, OEMs and developers; and Personal for consumers.

The announcement is a welcome news for companies which have long been struggling to link their heterogenous business applications.
