New tools boost field serice performance

Article Abstract:

Computer service providers and internal support organizations are outfitting their service personnels with tools to streamline field forces and boost their efficiency. In response, vendors are developing new products that help technicians in the fields. Carnegie Group of Pittsburgh, PA, has introduced its WorkBench, an interface between the technicians and their manifold manuals, while Foresight Software of Atlanta, GA, has developed its SiteWAre application software for field engineers.

Programs designed to certify desktop users

Article Abstract:

The market for end-user certification software is expanding due to the increasing demand from business professionals, office support staff, rs students and customer service representatives. In response, software developers are launching end-user certification programs for their respective products. Among these are Microsoft and Corel which will distribute desktop expert certfication programs for daily office applications such as WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Word and Excel.

Network integrators and ISPs join forces

Article Abstract:

Nationwide systems integrator USConnect Inc has formed a partnership with Internet service provider UUNet Technologies Inc to provide end-to-end communications service for corporate clients. Under the deal, USConnect will resell UUNET Internet services as part of its integration sales package to Fortune 1000 companies. On the othe hand, UUNET will use USConnect as a preferred consulting and integration partner.
