Seiko Epson snaps away at digital still cameras

Article Abstract:

Seiko Epson Corp hopes to seize a 50% share of the digital still camera market by 2001. The company currently has 30% to 35% of the market, which the company predicts will reach 10 million units worldwide by 2001. The company's experience with manufacturing small liquid crystal displays (LCDs), meanwhile, has certainly been a boost in its efforts to gain market share. Innovative features, such as the company's own 1.8-inch thin-film diode LCD, are incorporated in Seiko Epson's digital still cameras.

To extend projector sales, Epson to tap channels for printers

Seiko Epson Corp plans to introduce new products and make better use of its marketing channels for printers as part of an initiative to remain a dominant force in the global market for data projectors. The company currently owns a 20% share of both the US and Japanese data projector narket. With an expanded lineup of data projectors and help from its marketing units, the company hopes to capture a 30% share in Japan, a 20% share in the US and Europe and a 30% share in the Asian region.

Epson Introduces Weather Chart Receiver System

Article Abstract:

The Sky Mirror SM-10 is a weather chart receiver system from Epson Corp. It consists of a QC 10 personal computer, parabolic antenna, ultra-shortwave receivers and ink-jet printer. This system receives meteorological data from an orbiting static satellite. The system includes scroll and zoom features. It tabulates and displays weather data.
