Audio - Video Tape Volume Climbs as Competitors Collide

Article Abstract:

The 1985 magnetic media market will be characterized by escalating sales, broader distribution, and declining profit margins. The number of blank videotape suppliers has tripled over the past two years, and the number of retailers selling blank videotape has increased from 63,000 to 79,000. Manufacturers believe market growth will continue, and may even explode, with increased market penetration as more machines are purchased and new products such as Hi Fi VCRs, Compact Discs, and camcorders using standard VHS tape are sold.
