Article Abstract:

Hirose Electric Company Ltd is offering the RP34L series of power connectors with a snap lock system that generates a strong click sensation when plugged. The 5 x 9.1 x 7mm power connectors offer the capability to counteract prizing vertically and horizontally. Incorrect insertion is prevented by two engagement guides, while positioning during engagement is made easy with an arrow on the plug. The connectors work with a variety of electronic devices, including notebook computers, mobile information terminals and audi-video equipment. Hirose Electric offers models with straight plugs and L-bend plugs.

Special techniques fit FRAM on SmartCard LSI

Article Abstract:

NEC Corp.'s ferrodielectric RAM (FRAM) functions specifically in LSIs for SmartCards with the help of a two-layer aluminum wiring process. The technology developed by engineers from the company enables the design of a modular FRAM circuit linked directly to the CPU memory bus and a screening technology, meanwhile, allows for early detection of defective FRAM cells. Lead-zirconium-titanate was used a ferrodielectric material and for the electrode material, iridium was utilized, to effect integration of the FRAM process with a conventional logic LSI process.
