Taiwan has built a strong foundation for the information technology industry which ranks the country as the third largest producer of such hardware and software in 1998. Output for the given period was worth $19.6 bil, an increase of 3% from 1997 levels of $19 bil. The country's market leadership is attributed to exceptional design, sourcing, logistics, distribution and customer support services.

Mitsubishi's portable computers gain speed with Intel MMX processors

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi's Pedion series of notebook computers feature a 64MB RAM, a 12.1-in thin film transistor LCD monitor, a 1GB hard drive and they utilize Intel's MMX 233MHz Mobile Pentium processor as the CPU. Other features include a 32KB internal cache, a 256KB secondary cache and a 1.1MB video RAM. The Pedion runs with the Media Pack docking station measuring 23mm in thickness.
