The Market Is Moving Toward Color Printing

The color portion of the computer printer market is still small but growing. CAD-CAM and other markets will increase its appeal rapidly. Canon, Sharp, and Shinko Electric are only three of the many vendors entering the color printer market. Prices must come down dramatically before the products catch on. Silver Seiko is a leader in color thermal printers with its EXD10, SH16, and others. BMC International with its BT-55 and Epson with its P-40 and P-80 are also players in the thermal color market. Brother Industries makes the HR-5 thermal printer for use with hand-held computers. A table describing the specifications of the Epson P-40 and P-80, and five photographs of printers are shown. A table describing the increasing sales of printers is also included.
