Article Abstract:

Word processors have been used for some time by business students for editing and revising written assignments. Now software has been developed that helps teach the principles of good writing. The Unix Writer's Workbench package can even analyze student's papers. A number of such software packages, including Epistle, and Essaywriter, plus books on how to use computers and software for developing writing skills, are mentioned.

Success in educational and training programs is due largely to the quality of instruction. The student questionnaire is a useful tool in evaluating teachers and courses. Surveys of former students and their employers can pinpoint weaknesses. Teachers' self- evaluation by tape-recording or videotape is effective.

Equipment training is as important now as ever. Motor training (as opposed to mental skills) relies on verbal instructions, actual use of equipment, and training aids. Several suggestions are proposed for more effective training in this area.
