Trends and Analysis: Word Processing

Article Abstract:

Standardization of computer systems can be very beneficial to small businesses. In the area of hardware, standardization can be very helpful. A cheaper computer can be more costly in the long run because it is not standardized, particularly in terms of the memory. Standardized software helps a company to train its employees and to keep track of new products and upgrades. More importantly, it is difficult to integrate different brands of software. Standardized systems have a better guarantee for service in case they need repairs. A major computer company will generally provide quick and skilled service. Finally, buying multiple computers from a single company will often result in lower prices and increased attention. Thus, standardization can save money in the long run.
