UPS strike creates support ripples

The 15-day strike at United Parcel Service of America Inc (UPS) in summer 1997 exerted a wide ranging impact in terms of support services and ultimately directed attention to the critical importance of logistics services to the information technology business. The temporary incapacitation of UPS resulted in delayed shipments of parts and whole units to and from depots and warehouses that ultimately affected both ends of the supply chain. Most vendors began to experience problems several days into the UPS strike.

CVSI charts new course with service portfolio

Article Abstract:

CV Services International Inc (CVSI) has launched its new package of services to reflect its new status as an independent computer service provider. CVSI, formerly Computervision's internal service division, said that the new services exploit the presence of its former parent in 12 countries and its relation with major vendors. CVSI offers traditional hardware and software support services, but has also branched into network design and implementation, integration and migration, and Internet/intranet services.
