1999 sales have boatbuilders smiling

Article Abstract:

Wholesale sales for boats in 1999 have posted an overall increase of 9% which represents the best model year in terms of boat sales since the boom years of the late 1980s. The upward trend is expected to continue until the model year ends in Jun 30, 1999. The only exception is personal watercraft which continues to slide by 14% or 14,119 units compared to the 1998 model year. Outboard boat sales went up by 12%, or 12,845 units, while inboard boat sales went up by 11%, or 1,234 units.

2 boatbuilders merge in Pacific Northwest

Article Abstract:

Duckworth Boater Works owner Donald N Larson and Weldcraft Marine Industries' owner James E Moore have signed a letter of intent to merge their companies to form Renaissance Marine Group (RMG). RMG will be the base for establishing national and international dealer networks to serve the Duckworth and Weldcraft brands. Moore will become president and COO while larson will be chairman and CEO. They plan to merge the two manufacturing operations into a single, larger facility in 2001.

Mathers customizes kits for boatbuilders

Article Abstract:

Millville, NJ-based boatbuilder Silverton Marine Corp has signed an agreement with Mathers Controls Inc of Burlington, WA, for Mathers to supply Silverton Marine Corp with Microcommander propulsion control system kits. The kits were customized by Mathers regional sales manager Jim Monroe in collaboration with purchasing agents at Silverton. Silverton is placing orders for the kits regularly.
