New dot-com offers boaters test drives on their own PCs

Article Abstract:

BoatTEST.com LLC is due for launching in summer 2000. The dot-com firm founded by Jeff Hammond and Chris Kelly will be offering on-demand boating videos with over 100 powerboat tests and 70 how-to and boat handling tutorials. The video is expected to create excitement and add a dramatic new dimension to boat tests. It will take visitors on virtual boat-test rides right from their PC and will provide fuel-flow and performance numbers along with other data.

Industry united to push for Longshore Act reform

Article Abstract:

The recreational marine industry is preparing a lobbying effort to overturn provisions of the Longshore and Harbor Workers? Compensation Act. The House of Representatives is expected to debate a new bill, called the Recreational Marine Employment Act. A newly formed group, called the Recreational Marine Employment Coalition, expects to help get this bill passed.
