Asphalt prices on the rise

Article Abstract:

Roofing contractors are advised that the price of roofing asphalts could increase by 15% to 20% to $30 to $50 per ton above their present levels. The National Roofing Contractors Assn said the price increase could continue throughout summer. The price increase is due to the sharp increases in crude oil prices, substantial demand for paving asphalts due to federal funding programs and the decline in refining capacity. Contractors are advised to coordinate with their suppliers to ensure their supply.

Metal: shielding homeowners from the elements

Article Abstract:

An increasing number of homeowners are choosing metal roofs to protect their homes. One attractive attribute of a metal roof is its 100% recyclability. In addition, they are energy efficient, helping with cooling costs by reflecting the sun's rays. Also, they provide a superior resistance to the elements including hail, wind, snow, fire and ice damming. The roofs are becoming increasingly aesthetically pleasign as manufacturers make available more and more color choices and simulate shakes, tile and shingle roofing.
