Article Abstract:

The merged Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education aimed to concentrate all its activities in Cheltenham with new accommodation to be built on existing campuses, funded by the sale of sites mostly in Gloucester. The Burnley Wilson Fish practice was appointed as lead consultant and architects were appointed for each site. Two new buildings were inserted into Francis Close Hall, a complex that originated from 1849, and the complex itself was reordered internally.
