Arrests at Fla. dealership lead to call for licensing

Article Abstract:

The economic crimes unit of the Broward County, FL, state attroney's office has filed multiple grand theft charges against four officers and salesman of Dania, FL-based boat dealer First Marine Group. One of the customers allegedly bilked by the group is calling for the state to license all in-state boat dealers. Florida licenses brokers and salesmen of boats 32 feet and over, but those selling smaller craft are exempt. Calls for the professional regulation of small-boat dealers are not widely shared in an industry which already considers itself over-regulated.
