Barclay buys out Canadian distributor

Article Abstract:

Barclay Marine Distributor Corp. of Chicago, IL, acquired Marr's Leisure Holdings Inc.'s Yachter's Choice division for an undisclosed amount. Barclay, which basically purchased the inventory and database of Yachter's Choice, intends to manage the latter from Barclay's distribution center in Vaughan, Ontario. According to Paul Arenburg, President of Barclay, the company's acquisition of Yachter's Choice strengthens Barclay's status as the biggest supplier of marine accessories and parts in North America. In addition, the acquisition makes Barclay to have a greater control of the marine accessories sector in Canada.

MarineMax moves north

Article Abstract:

MarineMax Inc announced on Mar 9, 1999 that it has completed the acquisition of New Jersey-based boat retailer Merit Marine. The deal includes the two Merit Marine on-the-water outlets in New Jersey that generated about $30 million in 1998. The acquistion will cost Clearwater, FL-based MarineMax $949,360 in cash, a $3 million promisory note, 476,000 shares of common stocks and assumed liabilities.

Sea Harbor Yacht Sales

Article Abstract:

Florida Yacht Connection has been acquired by Safe Harbor Yacht Sales, which will allow the latter to establish a full-service yacht brokerage that will serve the Midwest and Florida. The former operates yacht sales offices in Longboat Key, Fort Myers and Naples, FL. The combined company, which will have the Safe Harbor name, will sell diesel-powered boats between 30 and 100 ft.
